I started out on Xanga, left for awhile to try a couple of other sites, and then came home to my first love. I Xanga because the user interface is a model of elegant simplicity.
Rival sites are complicated and “too noisy” with all the extras that are turned on by default – most of which I didn’t like and wouldn’t use anyway – but you still have to wade through mounds of whipped cream to reach the real stuff. I hate that. All fluff and no substance. I Xanga because I write – not just post pictures and songs and bulletins that say “Look at me! Notice me! Friend me! Comment on me! Tell me how cute and smart and funny and adorable I am! Let’s trade pictures and shallow, insincere compliments!“
On Xanga I can post thoughts, dreams, plans, chronicles, and of course, I can opine endlessly and even enjoy a good argument with my Xanga friends who disagree.
Xanga is my first love. I’m glad I came back home and that Xanga forgave me for wandering and welcomed me back as warmly the second time as the first.

I started using xanga since I was 15. I’m now 22. Xanga grew to be a
big part of my life. I like to write down a daily memo of what I did
each day because I have such horrible memories. Then maybe after a year
or so , I sit there and reread those entry and reminisce. Time can’t
bring back the good times, bad times, smiles & tears but the
writing I put into Xanga can. Thanks Xanga for letting me re-live my
past.
&& thanks Xanga for the great load of space for my pictures.
A great place for my personal writings & pictures put into one.
Monkeys!

Xanga is also my first love. Never leaving it.
…then you may have not seen the ad free blogspot. It’s simple.
But I like Xanga too. It’s treated me well.
In real life, my inner voice screams to be heard. I Xanga to let my inner voice talk…sometimes to just shut him up.
aw, that is so true.
I did that once, re-read my past…I saw that at times I felt so alone & I thought things would never get better but they always do……thnaks XAnga !
Agreed.
Well said, sir.
kudos! well said
yep, I’ve always used xanga to write my thoughts. couldn’t agree more.
Well said!
The new features of xanga are scaring me though. Xanga seems to be trying to become more like myspace and facebook, which would make me sad. However, I really haven’t given the new features much of a chance, so my impression could be totally wrong.
Nicely put.
If xanga’s server crash one day and i’ll lose all my posts………I don’t know what I would do. My plan is to read back when I’m old and laught at how silly I was.
cm
yeah i’m back to xanga too. i agree with everything you wrote. especially the shallow insincere comments part. amen. here i am back.. i recently took my xanga entries and saved them onto a word document.. to start fresh… start a brand new relationship wth xanga.
the elegant simplicity part is also why i like facebook and not myspace. the new apps i hate but the core facebook is what i use. LJ and others.. are… muggy.
Great post. I totally agree.
At first, I xanga’d because I saw my cousin’s site and thought it was really cool. I never really experimented with other blog sites but even still, I enjoy all of Xanga’s old school features as well as the new one’s like mini’s and featured questions. GO XANGA!
AMEN.
love the post.
That’s true. Although, xanga also has its bouts silliness, what with the credits and minis.
Xanga was my first and forever my only blogging tool <3
lol i totally agree… i’ve been on other blogging sites too, but i love xanga
well said! lets xanga!
I hope Xanga never dies! Facebook is no substitute. There’s nothing like xanga.
nice post. xanga has always been my number one.
myspace is too much about the popularity contest
and how good someone looks.
Hahaha i agree, but not everyone on other networking sites are all shallow.
ok, so I have to say…I’m kinda a myspace person, b/c i can keep in touch with everyone on here. but i still love xanga, and I visit my old ones to re-read my past (wow, how things change). I should start blogging again, b/c it is nice to have to look back on and see how your life has changed. well said my friend
let me be the latest to wholeheartedly agree!
agreed
I couldn’t have said it better myself. I just came back to Xanga tonight. I went through all of my friends’ Myspace pages and only 1/25 actually had blogs. The rest are all pictures, friends, and comments. But then again, they are just social networking sites.
Xanga is a Blogging site perfect for people who have something to say. Its sad that I left because all of my friends went left and I followed because there was no one here to read my posts anymore. But now I realize it doesn’t matter how many people read my blogs. I blog for me! I totally regret deleting my Xanga. I wish I could go back and read my old posts and have a good laugh.
cool post.
i haven’t invested much time into looking into other blogging platforms. xanga is good enough for what i need to do.
easy to use and simple!!!
All I can say..is I LOVE XANGA!!! and I am not a blogger and do not bother with any other sites..This place is the best..love the blogrings I’ve joined ..found so much support and understanding women..whom are like my friends..but only cyberfriends , unfortunately..but still..I wonder , do they count as friends.hmmmm
i agree completely. and i also agree with the first comment
even if you put ur weblog on private, at least you’re letting it out. :] !
i totally have to agree with you; all the others its like ” i’ve gotten the most hits, the most hugs etcetc,i’m the most popular”
xanga its all about bloging, ranting about your day, letting the thoughts go wild!
@bebebombastic - Maybe you should tell Xanga programmers to provide a feature that lets you download all your journal entries back onto your computer in a text doc.
totally agree. i xanga not make others leave comments, and get noticed..etc, but to express my thoughts where i cant otherwise. it’s a private diary in a safe place, where i can write about my dreams, plans, ideas, and observations.
