    i call two places “home”

…two places located on opposite ends of the country.

xanga is one more way for me to keep in touch, to maintain relationships with people i love, to feel connected across 3000 miles.

and for that i’m eternally grateful.

  • I started out on Xanga, left for awhile to try a couple of other sites, and then came home to my first love. I Xanga because the user interface is a model of elegant simplicity.

Rival sites are complicated and “too noisy” with all the extras that are turned on by default – most of which I didn’t like and wouldn’t use anyway – but you still have to wade through mounds of whipped cream to reach the real stuff. I hate that. All fluff and no substance. I Xanga because I write – not just post pictures and songs and bulletins that say “Look at me! Notice me! Friend me! Comment on me! Tell me how cute and smart and funny and adorable I am! Let’s trade pictures and shallow, insincere compliments!

On Xanga I can post thoughts, dreams, plans, chronicles, and of course, I can opine endlessly and even enjoy a good argument with my Xanga friends who disagree.

Xanga is my first love. I’m glad I came back home and that Xanga forgave me for wandering and welcomed me back as warmly the second time as the first.

I Xanga because it lets me say what is on my
mind even when it does’nt make sense half the
time. It helps me to put my million thoughts into
one big one so that I can talk to people about
whats going on and not confuse them in the
process. Xanga can’t talk back to me and tell
me that im stupid and i dont know what im talking
about. Xanga is there to simply listen and let me
express my emotions. Xanga is like a doctor. They
sit in the chair and take notes while you go on for an
hour or maybe even more talking about whats going
on in your life. Xanga to me is like therapy. some
people need to go and actually see a doctor and
talk out loud to hear their thoughts. Other people, like me, need Xanga.

When memories fade, emotions subside and life moves on, Xanga is my
connection to the past and what things meant to me when I was in the midst
    of them.

    here’s today’s entry:

I Xanga because it allows me to express myself without any restraints. I am able to share parets of my life that I know I will keep with me forever. I Xanga because Xanga is a life journal that I will never lose. I know that I will always have it and I will always be able to go back and look at my old posts to see how much I’ve grown, how much I’ve matured over the years.
I’ve been writing in Xanga since late 2002. Six whole years dedicated to this webpage. I love Xanga. It is what has kept me sane when I most obviously wasn’t. Here I am able to share my thoughts, share pictures, share my life with people whom I would never have been able to become acquainted with otherwise.
Xanga has allowed me to meet and become friends with people whom I feel will and have impacted my life like no other. I’m more easy going than I ever was before. Honestly speaking, I am now able to put myself out there with no restraints. What’s the point of being timid when you can be bold?
Xanga is a great networking site. It’s so much more personal than MySpace and  Facebook. Though I have all of them, and I use them all almost equally frequent, I always fall back onto Xanga when I need to release some steam or share a happy thought.
Xanga is my first and only love, and I don’t think it can ever be replaced.
    Why do I Xanga?
I Xanga because it has allowed me to befriend terrific people.
I Xanga because it has brought me closer to myself.
I Xanga because without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
