  • I guess I Xanga to explore my obsessions, whether they be of my idol James Dean, detailng the life and death of a short lived band, or my trials and tribulations for hurting someone and expressing my guilt and apologies. My Xanga itself has been an obsession, often being a daily thing to update.  More importantly, I Xanga to exercise my writing skills. to see if I can stir any emotion (so far none as there exists very few comments at the moment)  My goal is to start working on my own works of fiction by first presenting raw material of short pieces of fiction and see what response I get (my new year’s resolution).

But more importantly Xanga has taught me a lesson in the power of the written word and how they can affect friendship both ways.  I quote the following from MEMOIRS OF A DUTIFUL DAUGHTER by Simone de Beauvoir.  (published by Harper Perennial Modern Classics, p. 18)

“I could perceive the sinister effects of words only when their black magic clutched at my heart.”

With my deepest respect of words I hold their meaning tightly and all their subtext as well.  It often gets me emotionally troubled sometimes and it forces me to curb my sensitivity a bit.  After being a “Xanganeer” for over a year, I learned  a valuable lesson, not only of the meaning but of the value of words to all people. When usurped by others, intentionally or otherwise, a snowball effect can occur for the worse.  Even when giving credit to someone, it must be given with great discretion.  The impulsive nature within often overshadows my intellect I know I possess but fear others doubt I have.  I XANGA simply to express whatever is in my head …

  • Why Xanga? Simply because the people, the whole interaction online. Not only
can you meet new people, learn from others, keep in contact with friends,
but also.. see how you have changed over the years.  I’ve had a Xanga since
I started high school, even during junior high.
I have gone over, and read
all my posts, seen all the pictures, read every word, every poem, only to
    understand myself more.
Surfing around xanga, lets you explore the world
that you can’t reach with your fingertips. It let’s you have the chance to
learn without work. The whole process of using HTML, banners, words, poems,
pictures on Xanga is to show expression.  Online blogging let’s you vent on
things that can not be said outloud.

Not only is it therapy, but it is a learning process.

Xanga is only a self portrait of one person.
    It reflects your feelings, your
    changes, your whole life.
It’s like a storybook, waiting to be read.

Some people can express their feelings with words, others like me, express
it through pictures. On Xanga, I know that I have the freedom to say
anything I want, and to post any picture I want.  I know that I have a
“Xanga family” that will keep my thoughts in their minds.  I know that I
have the criticism of people.  I know that I have the honest opinion of
others.  ANd lastly, I know that they will teach me something in life, that
no one else can.  They can teach me how to grow.

Because we all have our own tales.

  • Without the opportunity to write on xanga, I would never have noticed the interesting rhythm of many people on a weekday morning, crisscrossing paths as they headed to meetings, balancing laptops under one arm, and recycled-fiber sleeved cups in the other, clicking, beeping and sipping their caffeinated beverages.

I xanga to find poetry in seemingly plain reality, to stop and smell the roses.
