I have been blogging for almost 2 yrs now, though not always on xanga.
I got on xanga b/c 2 of my sisters that I was not very close to were
on it, and I wanted to be part of their lives through this whole
internet blogging thing. Since then different family members have
come and gone into the world of blogs, but I still use my xanga as an
excuse to keep in touch with them, even if they don’t update as
regularly as I’d like. I view my blog(s) as a way to continue some
form of journal (I used to keep written journals in notebooks, I
started back in middle school) and also to update people on my life
and hopefully keep up with theirs.
One small epiphany I had recently was how interesting it is that I
have posted on my blog just about every single day since I started.
I’ve almost always had something to express, something to share,
whether mundane or profound. This from the girl that was always
viewed as “the quiet one” as far back as I can remember. I think my
blog is a way to express myself without the pressure of how people
will react to what I have to say or whether they’ll even care. I can
put my thoughts out there and after that it’s up to them to read it or
not. I think I have allowed people to see sides of me in this way
that I may not have shown as freely otherwise.

I agree. It just somehow seems easier to use Xanga as a sort of.. mediator between yourself and the people who read them. :)
i find it surprising when a quiet person express themself. Without xanga, every quiet person i see, i think they are dull and have nothing to express. But once i find there blog, i start to see there true side.
On xanga you don’t have to wait your turn between the outbursts and explosions of the drama-queen sisters you were unfortunately sandwiched between… it’s not so much that you were quiet, but that you were never given the chance to speak!
you’re a fat girl in a fat girl’s skin?
