Why do I xanga? I first got started by hearing about it, much like everyone else. I was a high school senior going into psychology and it seemed appropriate to dig into the lives of those around me without having to be prodding. I was amazed at the inner thoughts of my peers and to see the growth each person goes through; everything from anorexia, depression, personal loss and celebration. After just a few short hours I was hooked and needless to say, I am on xanga everyday! Over the past few years I have been proud to see my own growth and to have documentation of how I felt through all the ups and down thus far in my own life.
Perhaps my favorite thing about xanga and the most important reason why I xanga is in one word… my sister. We are eight years separate and perhaps as different as night and day but through xanga I can watch her reactions and through this simple site our relationship has miraculously grown deeper than I could have imagined. We have both nearly been married, lost our grandfather and been through many hard/good times that through xanga we can share our emotions about. Between work and school, xanga provides that extra viewfinder into my family – thanks xanga.
Besides family, I can also say friends – I have met more wonderful people on xanga than I could have imagined. Moscow, New York, 2 miles down the street – you name it! I have enjoyed those with similar hobbies and those whom I would never talk to on the street. We have grown close and I truly feel like we are the closest of friends and their daily support and “comments” has been a wonderful thing in my life. Overall, I can’t imagine my life without xanga.

great post, one of the best on this site
i love the picture!
Xanga is like a quiet best friend that only shares with others what we want them to share. :) It’s the same between my sister and I, even though we only have a 3 year difference between us. I love Xanga for bringing us together, too!
That’s a beautiful picture, by the way. :)
